The Gut Guys is an awareness campaign that was created by five McGill undergraduate students for the course gastrointestinal physiology and pathology, taught by Dr. Gary Wild. The premise of the course is to explore various GI tract illnesses in terms of the biopsychosocial model of medicine. The goal of this social media campaign is to draw attention to the gut microbiota, and spread awareness of its existence. Evidence is being found that gut microbial life can have affects on our health, and sharing this knowledge can help raise funds for further research, and put in place treatment regimens, and preventative measures. Most of The Gut Guys' founders will be graduating from their undergraduate degrees however our social media facets will be continued to be updated with new information and literature to help patients understand their illnesses, and the general population get the knowledge they need to prevent illness.
